About me
Tracey Brittain
I am an accredited member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Additionally, I have received advanced training from Onsite Workshops, a leading treatment center in Nashville, USA, and hold a Master’s degree and a B.A. (Hons) in Psychotherapy. I also hold accreditations in EMDR and Brainspotting, Havening including as one of the few UK therapists specialising in EMDR therapy for children.
I am a marker and lecturer at Middlesex Universities for those who are embarking on a career in psychotherapy.
Therapy should have a start and an end
At the end of the therapeutic journey I want to see evidence of changes that can be seen.
My therapeutic work is focused on addressing issues in the most efficient way possible, utilising a variety of techniques to tailor interventions to the specific needs of each client. I prioritise staying up-to-date with the latest therapeutic advancements, conducting ongoing research to assess their effectiveness and ensure that my practice reflects the most current evidence-based approaches.
Being effective is a key principle of mine
As an integrative counselor, my therapeutic approach emphasises the client’s relationships and draws on a range of methodologies, including attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and creative therapy. Additionally, I encourage clients to explore symbolic representations of difficult emotions through the use of objects, facilitating expression where verbalisation may be challenging.
My Approach
Based in Harley Street, my private practice provides a safe, supportive environment for individuals, couples, and young people, including specialised child therapy. My expertise in child and adolescent therapy positions me as a resource for families searching for local child therapists. With extensive experience in the field, I have held therapeutic roles at institutions such as The Priory Group, Woking Hospice, the NHS, and several prominent addiction agencies. I currently support Shooting Star Hospice as an trauma therapist
History
I am a highly experienced counselor and psychotherapist, dedicated to assisting both adults and children in developing a more cohesive sense of self. My therapeutic approach is goal-oriented, with the expectation that over time, clients will experience a marked reduction or resolution of their presenting symptoms. I firmly believe that counseling should be a finite process, with clear progress toward healing, rather than an open-ended commitment.
